In Summer, June 1951, Colette, the writter of the best seller classic book "Gigi", was looking the main role, for the theatre play she was preparing from the same book. She was at Montecarlo, when she decided to go to the beach. Suddenly, she saw a young lady filming a movie in that beach and her first impression was "That is Gigi. She is perfect for the role". That young lady was Audrey. Later, Colette sent her a gift with the note: "To Audrey Hepburn, the treasure i´ve found on the beach". One month after, the ladies started to prepare the play of "Gigi" to be represented in the Fulton Theatre in New York. That was the start of Audrey´s legend in the theatre and about her sucess in United States.

En el verano, Junio de 1951, Colette, la esritora de la obra best seller"Gigi", estaba buscando la actriz para el rol principal de la representación teatral del mismo libro. Ella estaba en Montecarlo, cuando decidió ir a al playa. De repente, ella vió una joven fimando una pelicula en esa playa y su primera impresión fue "Esa es Gigi. Ella es perfecta para el papel". Esa joven era Audrey. Mas tarde, Colette le envio un regalo con la nota "para Audrey Hepburn, el tesoro que encontre en la playa". Un mes después, las damas empezaron a preparar la obra de teatro "Gigi" para ser representada en el teatro Fulton de Nueva York. The National Board of Review gave this movie an Special Citation award for the photographic innovations made on his film.

35 years ago, on March of 1976, Audrey came back to the movies after years of being outside the acting. The movie was directed by Richard Lester (director of Help and Hard day´s Night), co-staring with Sean Connery and filmed in Pamplona, Spain in only few days. Some scenes such as the river crossing were inprovised and the acting roles were done under time pressure. Under the reference of several authors, Audrey was not happy about the way of filming the movie, but based in her professional style she ended the work. But one thing was certain: The critics and the media were happy about the return of Audrey to the films.

When Audrey had Luca, she wanted to dedicate him all time. That was the main reason to quit her actress career for serveral years, living between Italy and Switzerland and trying to be a normal and lovely mother, far from the cameras and the press. In "La Paisible", their house of Tolochenaz in Switzerland, shared a comfortable enviroment and a quiet family living.

Cuando Audrey tuvo a Luca, ella quizo dedicarle todo el tiempo. Esa fue la principal razón por la cual se retiró de su carrera de actriz por varios años, viviendo entre Italia y Suiza e intentando ser una normal y amorosa madre, lejos de las camaras y de la prensa. En "La Paisible", su casa de Tolochenaz en Suiza, compartieron un medio ambiente confortables y una tranquila vida familiar.

However, when she came back to work in 1976, she incluided Luca and their rest of the family in her activities and tried to keep them apart from the pressure of the press and the media. She reduced her movie contracts to be closer to her children and giving the oportunity to Luca to be closer to her mother in a peaceful style of life. That was her main role until her last day of life. Today Luca, a graphic artist living in Paris and his big brother Sean, share their activities in the children foundation that they lead. That was one great legacy she left to world. Two men dedicated to follow her dream in the benefit of the children all over the world.

Sin embargo, cuando ella volvió al trabajo en 1976, incluyó a Luca y al resto de su familia en sus actividades y trató de mantenerlos apartes de la presión de la prensa y de los medios. Ella redujo sus contratos de películas, para estar mas cerca de sus hijos y dando la oportunidad a Luca para estar mas cerca a su madre en un pacífico estilo de vida. Ese fue su principal rol hasta su último día de vida. Sean Hepburn Ferrer was born on 17 July of 1960. Was the first Audrey´s child in the marriage with the actor and director Melchor Ferrer. Audrey described a lot of times her happiness about being a mother after some complications. She said always her dream was having a children. Because of this, her first reaction to this was to suspend her work as actress to spend more time with her first baby. However, she decided to work for the future of her child.

Sean Hepburn Ferrer nació el 17 de Julio de 1960. Fue el primer hijo de Audrey en el matrimonio con el actor y director Melchor Ferrer. Audrey describió muchas veces su felicidad sobre el ser madre, despues de algunas complicaciones. Ella dijo que su sueño fue siempre el tener hijos. Por ello, su primera reacción fue suspender su trabajo como actriz para pasar mas tiempo con su primer bebé. Sin embargo, decidió trabajar para el futuro de su hijo.

Luca Dotti Hepburn was born on 8 February of 1970, in her second marriage with Dr. Andrea Dotti. Was her second and last child after ten years of her first child, Sean. Audrey decided this time to dedicate most of her time to Luca so she stop filming movies until he was 5 years old.

Luca Dotti Hepburn nació el 8 de Febrero de 1970 en su segundo matrimonio con el Dr. Andrea Dotti. Fue su segundo y ultimo niño despues de diez años del primero, Sean. Audrey decidió esta vez dedicar la mayoria de su tiempo a Luca, asi que se detuvo en hacer films hasta que cumpliera los 5 años de edad.

The life with Audrey was an unforgettable experience. After her dead, the two children decided to continue with the work in benefit of the children of the world, with the creation of the foundation "Audrey Hepburn´s Children Fund".

La vida junto a Audrey fue una experiencia inolvidable. Luego de la desaparición de Audrey, ambos hijos decidieron continuar con el trabajo en beneficio de los niños del mundo, con la creación de la fundación "Audrey Hepburn´s Children Fund".

La colección recaudó más del doble de lo que se esperaba, con un total de mas 270.000 libras, fue puesta a la venta por Tanja Star-Busmann, una amiga de toda la vida de Audrey. Un 50 por ciento de lo recaudado se donará a la Fundación para la Infancia que lleva el nombre de la actriz.

The Event of the Year was, without a doubt, the Audrey´s Auction of her personal items, at December 08 of this year. the auction made over £270,000, or $437,994, exceeding the £100,000 projection by nearly three times. It was made by Tanja Star Busmann, personal friend of Audrey. 50 per cent of this auction will be donated for the Audrey´s Child Foundation.

On March 28, 1954, 50 years ago, Audrey won the Antoinette Perry award also known by "Tony", in a ceremony at the Plaza hotel, just few days after her oscar by for the "Roman Holiday" movie. Entre Febrero y Marzo de 1959, Audrey decidió filmar la película "No Bail Fot the Judge", con Alfred Hitchcock como Director. Tristemente, el proyecto fue abortado a causa del embarazo de Audrey. El elenco fue completado por John Williams y Laurence Harvey. Las palabras de la propia Audrey, dentro de su biografìa hecha por Diana Maychick, fueron:

"Yo adoré el guión que el señor Hitchcock envió. Yo nunca olvidaré la historia. Yo iba a representar a una abogada en Londres. Mi padre, un juez en Old Bailey, es injustamente acusado de asesinar a una prostituta y yo estaba para defenderlo. Yo contraté a un bandido para conseguir evidencia que iba ser representado por Laurence Harvey. Estaba tan emocionada, le dije al señor Hitchcock que me enviara los contratos".

Between February and March of 1959, Audrey decided to film the movie "No Bail fot the Judge" with Alfred Hitchcock as the director. Sadly, the proyect was aborted due the pregnancy of Audrey. The cast was completed by John Williams and Laurence Harvey. The Audrey's own words in Diana Maychick's biography were:

"I adored the script that Mr. Hitchcock sent over," Hepburn told Maychick. "I'll never forget the story. I was to play a barrister in London. My father, a judge at the Old Bailey, is wrongly accused of murdering a prostitute and I was supposed to defend him. I hire a crook to help gather evidence, and the crook was to be played by Laurence Harvey. I was so excited, I told Mr. Hitchcock to send over the contracts."

Recuerda, si tu necesitas una mano que te ayude, esta al final de tu brazo. Si envejeces, recuerda que tu tienes otra. Lo primero es ayudarte a ti mismo. Lo segundo es ayudar a otros. La gente, aún mas que las cosas, deben ser restaurada, revivida, reafirmada y redimida. Nunca rechaces a nadie".

Here, Audrey played the role of Ondine, a water nymph without a soul who falled in love with a mortal man. El 20 de Enero de 1993, hace 15 años Audrey Hepburn pasó a la eternidad. Sin embargo su imagen, inspiración y significado de su vida estaran con nosotros para siempre. En esta navidad la recordamos mas que nunca, así como a todas sus acciones y deseos, sobre todo para los niños. Porque la navidad también es un tiempo para los niños y los buenos deseos. En palabras de Audrey, para la revista Harpers Bazaar, en diciembre de 1990, el siguiente es su deseo navideño:

"Mi único deseo para esta navidad es PAZ. Especialmente PAZ para los niños de este mundo. Solo entonces el agua que les damos aplacará su sed, el alimento nutrirá sus cuerpos, las medicinas los sanarán y solo entonces vivirán para jugar y aprender. Y sus padres vivirán para amarlos".

Since January 20, 1993, 15 years ago, Audrey Hepburn is part of the eternity. However, her image, inspiration and meaning of life will be with us forever. In this christmas we remember her more than ever, like all her actions and wishes for the children. Because the christmas is a time for children and best wishes too. In Audrey´s words for the Harpers Bazaar magazine, in December of 1990, the next is her christmas wish:

My only wish for this christmas is PEACE. Specially PEACE for all the children of this world.

She said about too just then the water will calm their thirst, the food will feed their bodies, the medicine will cure them and just then they will live to play and learn. And their parents will live to love them.

Peace and love for everybody in this Christmas.

En esta semana, exactamente el 5 de Diciembre de 1963, hace 45 años, se estrenó la película Charada (Charade). Dirigida por Stanley Donen y presentando a estrellas como Cary Grant, tiene la presencia de Audrey como Regina Lambert, quien al regresar de París de unas vacaciones en Suiza, encuentra que su marido Charles ha sido asesinado. Después de ello, el agente de la CIA Hamilton Bartholemew le dice que su esposo ha robado 250,000 dólares de oro del gobierno. Luego ella es visitada por Peter Joshua (Cary Grant) al cual conoció brevemente en sus vacaciones y el se ofrece ayudarla a encontrar el dinero y protegerla de los socios de su marido en el robo, ya que ellos también buscan el dinero.

In this week, exactly on December 5, 1963, 45 years ago, was the premiere of the movie Charade. Directed by Stanley Donen, and featuring stars as Cary Grant, present Audrey as Regina Lambert, who returns to Paris from a holiday in Switzerland and find that her husband Charles has been murdered. After that, the CIA agent Hamilton Bartholemew tells her husband stole $250,000 in gold from the U.S. government. Later she is visited by Peter Joshua (Cary Grant) whom she had met briefly while on holiday, and he offers to help her to find the money and protect her from her husband's partners in crime, because they were looking for the money too.

Hace 30 años, en Noviembre de 1978, se iniciaron las sesiones de filmación de Lazos de Sangre, pelicula protagonizada por James Mason, Irene Papas, Ben Gazzara, Romy Schneider y Omar Sharif, las cuales finalizarian en 1979. Basada en la novela de Sidney Sheldon y dirigida por Terence Young, Audrey interpreta el papel de Elizabeth Roffe, quien hereda una compañia farmaceutica, descubriendo que algunos de los miembros de su familia podrian tener un complot para su muerte con el objetivo de tener el control de dicha compañia. Esta fue la primera y ultima película dirigida por su esposo Mel Ferrer. Filmada en Venezuela y California, Audrey interpreta el Papel de Rima, quien establece un relación especial con el papel representado por Anthony Perkins. Como especial recuerdo de los cincuenta años de la filmación de esta película, presentamos a continuación algunas fotos que nos remontan hacia su realización.

It was the first and last movie directed by her husband Mel Ferrer.
